Plastiglomerates
In 2013, at the suggestion of oceanographer Charles Moore, and with the assistance of activists Noni and Ron Sanford and Megan Lamson, geologist Patricia Corcoran and artist Kelly Jazvac began a research project on a type of existing stone they described as 'Plastiglomerate.' The stone consists of a mix of molten plastic debris and beach sediment, including sand, wood, and rock. A co-authored manuscript of that research can be found here. A personal essay by the artist called “Noni Knows,” can be found here.
